March is National Nutrition Month, and NYSOFA wants to hear what events you may be planning locally. Please write to NYSOFA’s Communications Director Roger Noyes (roger.noyes@aging.ny.gov) with any details of events that we can help promote.

SNAP-Ed NY: Resources for Saving Money and Eating Well

The SNAP-Ed NY nutrition program offers practical tips for buying healthy food on a budget, and for creating simple meals you can afford.

In her monthly article, SNAP-Ed New York Registered Dietitian Lisbeth Irish offers tips about reducing food waste. How we plan, store, and make use of the food we buy for meals can save us hundreds of dollars a year. As an added benefit, that food is also less likely to end up wasted in our landfills.

Lisbeth will explore the topic further in the next installment of her Facebook livestream, Ask The Experts: Nutrition Edition. RSVP here to join the discussion on March 10 at 1 p.m. and hear from Lisbeth’s guest, Meghan Young, a nutrition educator from Cornell Cooperative Extension.

Are you looking for more healthy meal ideas? Watch the latest episode of NYSOFA’s SNAP-Ed NY cooking demonstration, What’s Cooking with NYSOFA. Host Wendy Beckman, a Registered Dietitian at NYSOFA, makes a Breakfast Rice Bowl, and adds lots of fruits! Watch the magic here on our YouTube channel
