Senior Days at the Great New York State Fair: August 26, 27, 28

The Great New York State Fair is once again offering free admission to older adults on three special days. Attendees aged 60 and older are offered free admission on Monday, August 26; Tuesday, August 27; and Wednesday, August 28. ID showing date of birth may be requested to allow free admission.

NYSOFA’s Aging Services Mobile App
Visit the New York State Office for the Aging’s booth in the Science and Industry Building to learn more about NYSOFA’s first in the nation statewide aging services mobile app.

The New York State Office for the Aging’s aging services mobile app provides basic information about issues important to older New Yorkers and their families and connects them to live, local resources. Older adults or caregivers on the go anywhere in New York can also immediately get addresses, mapped directions, and contact information for local offices for the aging, senior centers, farmers’ markets, caregiver services, Alzheimer’s Association chapters, and more, in their communities. The free app is available for download on iOS devices and Android devices. NYSOFA staff will be available to discuss features of the app and how to download it.

Improvements Continue
Under Governor Andrew M. Cuomo’s leadership, the fairgrounds have had many upgrades and improvements, and they need to be seen to be truly appreciated.

New Reception Area
There is a new reception area for senior group bus and van parking available during the three Senior Days, but a special parking permit for this location will be required. Please contact the fair’s Art & Home Center office at (315) 487-7711, ext. 1265 to pre-register for this permit.

Visit and Speak with NYSOFA Staff
The New York State Office for the Aging will have a presence at the fair all week. Staff will be handing out a variety of materials helpful for older New Yorkers and their loved ones, including the Older New Yorker’s Pocket Guide to Resources. It contains a bevy of useful information for older New Yorkers and caregivers. Come grab a free copy!
