2017 Empire State Senior Games Registration is Open!

You are never too old to be healthy—or to be involved in competitive sports. That’s the clear message of the Empire State Senior Games.

Golf, pickleball, orienteering, tennis, and shuffleboard are just a sample of the competitions you’ll find at the 2017 events, which take place from June 12-18, 2017. New Yorkers ages 50 and over will compete in track and field events, bowling, basketball, shuffleboard, and disc golf, among many other sports. Approximately 1,000 individuals compete at the games each year.

Registration is open for all areas of competition from now until May 22.

Competition in most activities is divided by gender and by the following age groups: 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85-89, and 90+. A competitor’s age on December 31, 2016 determines in what group they will compete.

Events will be held in Cortland; most on the SUNY Cortland campus. The games, which have been held since the early 1980s, attract participants from all over New York State.

And if competition is not your style—or you are too young to take part—there is also a wellness fair held during the games. There are social events and dining opportunities, as well, making it a great destination to see the best of the best compete while enjoying the company of friends.
