New York State: Superstorm Sandy Help Available

The State of New York will administer Social Services Block Grant (SSBG) funding in the amount of $200,034,600 to Community Based Providers and Local Governments recovering from the effects of Superstorm Sandy. Funding will be made available for:

  • - Social, health and mental health services/costs resulting from Superstorm Sandy;
  • - Repair, renovation and rebuilding of health care facilities, mental hygiene facilities, child care facilities and other social services facilities.

New York will allocate Sandy SSBG funding to address four Focus Areas:

  • Repair, renovation and rebuilding;
  • Uncompensated operational costs, including provision of critical services during/after Superstorm Sandy;
  • Ongoing support and social services for those impacted by Superstorm Sandy; and
  • Flexibility to ensure that additional eligible social service needs resulting from Superstorm Sandy can be addressed.

Proposals are due 8/30/13 by 3 pm.

Contracts will have a start date no earlier than 9/1/13, and an end date no later than 9/30/15.
