Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today unveiled his 2012-13 Executive Budget and Reform Plan
, which expands on the historic reforms enacted last year to continue building a New New York. As a result of the tough decisions and bipartisan cooperation of the past year, the State is able to close the current deficit without broad cuts, new taxes, fees or gimmicks.
Governor Andrew M. Cuomo delivered his
2012 State of the State Address
on Jan. 4th, in which he outlined a comprehensive agenda that builds on the success of last year. The Governor launched a new economic development blueprint that invests billions of dollars in key public-private sector partnerships and rebuilding infrastructure to create thousands of new jobs across the state, proposed a reinvention of how government operates in order to get results for the people while protecting taxpayer dollars, and detailed a series of actions to strengthen New York's legacy as the progressive capital of the nation.
A special Medicare fraud prevention meeting was held on December 16, 2011 at the New York Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association in Chinatown, New York. The purpose of this meeting was to inform Asian American seniors about how to detect and prevent Medicare fraud and abuse. The event was covered by two prominent Chinese American newspapers, World Journal and SingTao Daily News.
Governor Andrew M. Cuomo has launched "Help Your Neighbor", a statewide initiative to urge businesses and New Yorkers to give directly to regional food banks this holiday season. The Governor also announced $1 million in grants will be given to eight food banks across the state and an additional $620,000 in grants for emergency food relief organizations in communities hit hard by the recent flooding and storms.
