Ask about . . . Nursing Homes
Nursing homes provide long-term custodial care and skilled nursing services for adults of all ages. Some newer nursing homes follow the design, staffing, and programmatic principles of the "Green House" model, which is a small nursing home for eight to twelve residents and which provides more flexibility and autonomy for residents and for direct care staff.
Nursing homes are licensed and regulated by the New York State Department of Health. At least every 15 months, the Department surveys each nursing home for deficiencies and to rate the quality of care.
